Taraji Penda Henson, /t@'ra/dZi/t@-RAH/jee was born September 11th, 1970. She is an American actress. After studying acting at Howard University, she began her Hollywood career as a guest actress on a variety of TV shows. Her debut came with Baby Boy (2001). She played a prostitute on Hustle & Flow (2005) in which she was awarded an award from the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance in a Cast in a Motion Picture nomination. She also played as a single mother of disabled child in David Fincher's Curious case of Benjamin Button (2008), for which she was awarded Academy Award, SAG Award and Critics Choice Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. She starred in Date Night in 2010 and was also a co-star in the remake of The Karate Kid with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. She starred in Taken from Me: A Tiffany Rubin Story, a Lifetime Television movie.
