Christina Renee Hendricks (born May 3 1975) is an American model and actress. She has had a long career on screen and stage and has won numerous awards, including six Primetime Emmy Award nominations and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Critics also gave her two Critics Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Her role as Joan Harris on the AMC drama series Mad Men is the most famous. The show was named as the "sexiest woman in America" by Esquire magazine in 2010. She was born to an American mother in Knoxville, Tennessee and an English father in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was involved in theater and was also involved in community theater. Following her Seventeen cover contest entry she moved to New York City to pursue modeling as a career. She continued to work internationally as a model for over a decade before transitioning into acting.
