Christina Aguilera

Christina Maria Aguilera (/aegI'le@r@/; Spanish: [agi'lera] born on December 18, 1980) is an American singer, songwriter and actress as well as a television celebrity. Known for her four-octave vocal range and the ability to hold high notes for long periods of time, she has been described as the "Voice of Generation". Aguilera was a big hit with her debut album. It is said that she was responsible with helping to revive teenage pop in the latter part of the 1990s. Her work, which incorporates sexuality, feminism and domestic violence have sparked both praise from critics and controversy. For this, she is frequently cited as an influencer by other artists. After appearing on TV shows, Aguilera signed with RCA Records in 1998. Her debut album spawned three Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles including "Genie in A Bottle", "What a Girl Wants" and "Come On Over Baby (All I Want is You)" -- and earned the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Her debut Spanish album, Mi Reflejo (2000), was released as a bubblegum pop record. It topped the Billboard Top Latin Albums charts for 19 weeks.
