Market capitalization and enterprise value can be useful to determine what a business is "worth" to investors of today. Market cap measures the stock worth, and enterprise value is a measure of value that is "total" value. It subtracts the cash value and then adds on the total debt. The value of the enterprise can be thought of as the cost to buy the entire business. You would have to pay for the credit, as well as any remaining cash. Understanding a company's market value is a good thing, however on its own, it might not be a complete picture in terms of a company's value. It's especially crucial for companies that make large investments in costly real estate, equipment or any other asset with a significant value. With this in mind, it is crucial to know how to calculate the value net of these assets. It's fairly easy to determine a company's net worth. But knowing a company's value in the market is just one part of the equation because it's only how much the business is worth to investors today. It is also crucial to know the company's net worth, which is the value net of all of its assets once liabilities such as debt have been paid.
