America's Store began as Home Shopping Club Overnight Service in 1988. The show was broadcast across a variety of stations throughout the US between 9am and midnight and included WWOR-TV located in New York City from 3am until 6 am. HSN started offering its Home Shopping Service 24 hours every day, 365 days a year following the purchase of a couple of low-power stations. The network's name was changed again in 1997, to America's Jewelry Store, to reflect the shift towards selling jewellery. After some limited results with this version, HSN expanded the inventory across all categories, and eliminated the word "jewelry" from its title. AS was added to the DirecTV lineup in 2003. The stations that HSN had low power were located throughout the major cities, which included the World Trade Center. QVC's competitor was a spin-off named Q2, but it only ran for 2 years between 1994 and 1996. Following the departure of Barry Diller from QVC as well as the acquisition of HSN through his own company, HSN purchased Q2 and the staff of Q2 migrated on his way to HSN.
