Tulsi Gabbard

 Tulsi Gabbard (/'t^lsi "gaeb@rd"born on April 12 1981) is an American politician, United States Army Reserve officer, and political commentator who served as the U.S. representative for Hawaii's 2nd district in the congressional elections from 2013 until 2021. Gabbard was also the first Hindu member of Congress and also the first Samoan American to vote in Congress. Gabbard, who was 21 years old, ran in the Democratic nomination for the 2020 United States presidential election. Then, she became an independent in the fall of 2022. Gabbard was a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard's field medical team from 2004 until 2005. She was also a leader of a platoon for the Army Military Police in Kuwait from 2008 to 2009. She was an active participant in Congress and served as vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) from 2013 until the year 2016. In 2016, she resigned in order to be a supporter of Bernie Sanders' 2016 Democratic presidential campaign.
