Spencer Michael Rattler (born September 28 in 2000) is an American football quarterback who plays in the college football league for South Carolina. Rattler started his college career at Oklahoma before transferring to South Carolina in 2021. Lincoln Riley announced on September 1 that Rattler was selected to start the season as the quarterback instead of Mordecai. Rattler made his debut against Missouri State on September 12. Rattler broke the Oklahoma record for touchdowns with 8 passes in just two weeks on September 26. The record was established by Sam Bradford back in 2008. However, Rattler's starting job was not a smooth start when he and his Sooners were upset by Kansas State in his second start. Rattler was able to throw for 300 yards and 2 touchdowns in his third try against Iowa State. The loss ended a streak of 24 straight home defeats for Iowa State to Oklahoma. Rattler and the Sooners came back with the win against Texas in the Red River Rivalry game. He was active in the College Football Playoff Semifinal Game against LSU.
