 Meles Zenawi's net worth Meles Zenawi was an Ethiopian politician and businessman who had a net worth of $3 billion. Meles Zenawi was a former Prime Minister for Ethiopia. Prior to becoming the prime minister in his native nation, Zenawi was the president Ethiopia in the nineties (from 1991-1995). He also served as the chairman of Tigrayan People's Liberation Front (TPLF) and the head of Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) during the eighties. Taking the position of Prime Minister of Ethiopia in 1995 (until his death in August 2012) Zenawi was widely regarded as one of Africa's powerful men who introduced the multi-party political system, private media in the country and cutting down on the number of children dying. Zenawi was also involved in the US War on Terror and assisted in the elimination of military organizations like Al Qaeda. Additionally, Zenawi was recognized for his efforts towards establishing a stable relationship with the African Union, playing an important role in improving Africa's position in the fight against climate change. His leadership was however seriously criticised, and he was accused of violating a range of human rights violations and limiting the right to freedom of expression and press.
