Anson Williams (born Anson William Heimlich on September 25, 1949 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actor or singer as well as director, best known for his role as an innocent, well-intentioned and gullible singer Warren "Potsie" Weber on the TV show Happy Days (1974-1984), a character for which he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor - Series, Miniseries or Television Film.Unlike Howard and Most, Williams was one of the few actors to stay throughout the duration of the series, although his appearances became less frequent in the later seasons. Richie, Potsie and Ralph form a band that performs at Arnold's Drive-In among other locations, in a few episodes. Williams sang the lead vocals as Potsie. Williams's first wife, Lorrie Mahaffey, portrayed Potsie's girlfriend, Jennifer, in later seasons. After Happy Days, Williams started a more prolific career as a TV director and producer, beginning with short shows for children of adolescence, such as after-school programs "No Greater Gift" (1985) and "The Drug Knot" (1986), and television-movie Lone Star Kid (1986).Despite his successes as a director and producer, Williams has occasionally returned to his work on Happy Days in retrospective ways.
