American singer Remy Ma Remy Ma is Reminisce Mackie (nee Smith), born on May 30 in 1980. Big Pun discovered her and she gained fame by being a part of Fat Joe's Terror Squad. In 2006, she debuted her debut studio album , There's Something about Remy Based on a True Story that was a modest success and peaked at 33 on the Billboard 200 chart. Ma's commercially successful songs include "Whuteva", “Ante Up (Remix)," "Lean Back" as well as "All the Way up". She was one of four multiple winners for the BET Award for Best Female Hip-Hop Performance in the years 2005 and 2017. Ma is the winner of two Vibe Awards, two Source Awards as well as being nominated for four Grammy Awards. She has been a star on VH1's reality series Love & Hip Hop: New York since 2015 with her husband Papoose. Mackie was born in The Bronx and grew up in the Castle Hill Projects. From a young age she was exposed to the abuse of drugs in her family.
