Raquel Welch

Jo Raquel Welch (nye Tejada on September 5, 1940) was an American actress from America. She first gained attention for her performance in Fantastic Voyage (1966), then was offered a contract by 20th Century Fox. They loaned her contract to Hammer Film Productions in Britain and she was in the film in One Million Years B.C. (1966). Even though she had only three lines of dialogue, her pictures in bikinis with her doe-skin became famous and made her an international image of sex. Later, she starred in Bedazzled (1967), Bandolero! (1968), 100 Riffles (1969), Myra Breckinridge (70) and Hannie Caulder (71). Welch was the star of many television variety specials. Her portrayal of strong women helped her break out of the mold of the traditional sex symbol. Her rise to fame in the mid-1960s was partly due to the fact that Hollywood stopped its vigorous promotion of the blonde bombshell.
