 Marshall Bruce Mathers III, born on 17 October 1972, is an American producer and rapper. The cult status of hip-hop artist Eminem is well-known and he's recognized as one of the most powerful rappers of all time. The worldwide success of Eminem and his critically acclaimed work is widely believed to have dismantled the racial barriers that had prevented white rappers from being embraced in the mainstream music scene. While his actions in the latter part of 1990 and early 2000s were controversial, he quickly became an icon of American anger and was seen as a source of inspiration for numerous musicians. In 1999, Eminem signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment. The Slim Shady LP was a huge success. The two albums that followed, The Marshall Mathers LP (2000), as well as The Eminem Show (2002) were his second.
