Benjamin Geza Affleck was born on August 15, 1972. He is an American actor, filmmaker and director. He has been awarded two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards as well as the Volpi Cup (the principal award for actors at the Venice Film Festival). When he was a kid actor, he was a part of the PBS educational program The Voyage of the Mimi (1984-1988). Then, he appeared on the independent comedy Dazed and Confused (1993) as well as numerous Kevin Smith films including Mallrats (1995), Chasing Amy (1997) and Dogma (1999). Affleck was more well-known in the year his childhood friend Matt Damon won both the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Original Screenplay for Good Will Hunting (1997). They also appeared in it. Affleck became a popular actor in films of the studio like the film about disasters Armageddon (1998) as well as the war-themed drama Pearl Harbor (192001). Affleck also appeared in the action films The Sum of All Fears and The Sum of All Fears (both 2002).
