American actress Amy Lou Adams was born on August 20, 1974. Known for both her comedic and dramatic roles, she has been featured three times in annual ranking of the top-paid actresses. She has received various accolades which include two Golden Globe Awards, in addition to nominations for six Academy Awards, seven British Academy Film Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards.Adams began her career as a dancer in a dinner theater, a career she continued to pursue from 1994 until 1998. She made her debut in film as a support actress in the dark comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999). Her appearances also included guest spots on television and also played "mean women" roles in low-budget feature films. The first time she was seen was in Steven Spielberg's biopic Catch Me If You Could (2002). However, she was unemployed for a period of one year. Her breakthrough came when she played the role of a sexy pregnant woman in the independent comedy-drama Junebug (2005) in which she received her first Academy Award nomination.
